Job Description: The role willoperate the waste water treatment plant on a day to day basis, faultfinding, risk identification and first line maintenance. The role also entails monitoring gauges and valves, minor maintenance and collecting and evaluation various data. Job Responsibilities: Clean the sludge press on regular intervals. Report all maintenance issues to engineering department. Run tests to make sure that the processes are working correctly. Keep effluent plant dam levels in acceptable levels. Control equipment and monitor processes that remove or destroy harmful materials, chemicals, and microorganisms from wastewater. Do start-up of the plant after weekends and to ensure plant is performing well. Send clean effluent water back to the plant for processing purposes. Keep records of water quality and other indicators. Keep all chemical hoppers and tanks full at all times. Inspect equipment on a regular basis Maintain high standard of work. Maintain and clean the plant every day. Check that sludge hopper does not block up. Report water being out of specification. Job Requirements: Have a working knowledge of basic machinery preventive maintenance and repair. Mechanical skills: Water and wastewater treatment plant and system operators must know how to work with machines and use tools. They must be familiar with how to operate, repair, and maintain equipment Have a working knowledge of the operation, methods and procedures of a wastewater treatment. Analytical skills: Water and wastewater treatment plant and system operators must conduct tests and inspections on water or wastewater and evaluate the results.
