Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that channels of communication are maintained within the section by attending regular meetings to discuss topical issues, share ideas and develop teamwork, coordination and cooperation for the benefit of the team.
  • Assist that basic maintenance of equipment is done according to standards and procedures by conducting visual checks on regular basis, assisting and advising where the necessary and reporting to the supervisor
  • Assists that basic repairs on equipment are done to avoid and eliminate unnecessary breakdowns. Take corrective action if necessary.
  • Maintain close liaison with the other disciplines to ensure that decisions area taken within perspective and that decisions and actions are integrated
  • Assist that development activities are coordinated e.g preparing the face, drilling the face, charging up, moving of ore, installing of temporary and permanent support, laying of tracks, installing of water and ventilation pipes, barring down, constructing box fronts, grizzlies cleaning of the work area and performed according to standards and procedures
  • Utilize constructive working relationships to achieve the best end results e.g cost effectiveness by utilizing open communication channels and exercising tolerance for individual differences.

Job Requirements:

  • Have a Team Leader certificate of competency
  • Hold a valid Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have at least 2 years’ experience in the mining and development environment
  • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Centre.
