Job Description:

Influencing the Dept/BU Management to achieve cost targets. Ensure that sound financial management and reporting practices are implemented and applied. Apply relevant policies, procedures and ensure compliance to internal controls. Ensures effective, accurate and timely reporting to internal stakeholders. Participates and provides input in business decision making, financial management of the business unit and ensure the effective management of the financial team. Support the cost and profit centre managers with financial analysis in a proactive, positive/ critical attitude to facilitate decision making as well as to evaluate the effect of decisions made.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review monthly reconciliations for month end closures, disclosure schedules and statutory period ends. Proactively consider unusual accounting transactions for correct accounting treatment.
  • Prepare accurate capital budget and forecast and ensure accurate cash flows.
  • Co-ordinate the asset verification and useful life tests.
  • Support the management with analysis and identification of risks and opportunities to enable business decisions and the achievement of cost, savings, and ROI targets.
  • Assisting business to achieve cost targets by analysing Sasol 2.0 initiatives and tracking savings.
  • Regular analysis of cost centres to identify areas of concern to be addressed by cost centre owners/BU management using KPIs. Advise on actions to be taken when costs are not aligned with budgets and forecasts.
  • Verify the accuracy of allocation and recovery of interdepartmental / intercompany cost/sales. Reconcile costs and follow up on costing queries.
  • Review economic models and provide recommendations on business cases.
  • Guidance to BU cost centre owners in preparing and managing their costs/budgets.
  • Lead in planning and coordinating budget processes of activities and assets for the business. Provide financial inputs to the operational budget process and provide key support/analysis to management.
  • Prepare forecasts for the BU/ value chain within agreed deadlines.

Job Requirements:

  • B.Com Hons Accounting / CTA or equivalent with 5 years post articles relevant experience OR
  • Proven managerial experience where applicable.
  • B.Com / BTech Acc with 10 years post articles relevant experience.
  • 10 relevant years. Mining experience will be advantageous.
  • Proven financial/management reporting skills.
  • B.Com Hons with 7 years relevant experience OR
  • CA (SA) or equivalent with minimum of 1 year relevant post articles experience OR
