Job Description:

To manage the integration of all business related activities through all project phases in order to successfully implement Alexander opencast mine related systems, complying with performance criteria and operating as intended. Assist in staffing, training and following up with mine workers to enable the BU’s optimal performance. Guarantee adherence to safety standards and the provision of a healthy and safe work environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure process is in place to have the correct standards, specifications and scope documentation is aligned with the business objectives.
  • Ensure maintenance of commercial obligations and source commercial support when required.
  • Oversee that cold and hot commissioning are conducted in a safe and effective manner.
  • Develop communication plan and protocol that details communication with project team, business and internal Sasol stakeholders, and outside stakeholders (including government, authorities and possible suppliers) for all project phases.
  • Ensure Alexander business solutions can be integrated and will support the Sasol business objectives.
  • Compliance to all the business, project management, legal and commercial requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage interfaces with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure interim business milestones are achieved and keep people accountable.
  • Act as a Business Lead in negotiations of commercial agreements with relevant parties to ensure that transactions are concluded within the required timeframe and within mandates.
  • Ensure procurement plan can be executed with minimum risk to the project.
  • Effectively manage business related risks to prevent negative impact on the project.
  • Provide operations plan that includes key studies for future operating philosophy, developed and documented.
  • Compilation of Capital Application, reflecting a summary of the business case.
  • Legal & contractual issues/restraints resolved with the relevant authorities and stakeholder agreements obtained and documented.
  • Conduct regular business meetings with Sasol, mining contractor and EPCM engineers.

Qualification & Experience:

  • University Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8+ relevant years
