Job Description:

To supervise the cost-effective execution of all mining work ensuring the achievement of mining and quality targets and to ensure compliance of provisions of the Mine Health and Safety Act and its Regulations

Job Responsibilities:

• Inspect all other workings (not blasted) at least once a week at
• Inspect all workings in area of responsibility as frequently as may
• Labour compliment in line with budget
• Supervision and ensure that work is proceeding safely under
• Maintain labour stability by minimising labour turnover
• Ensure an enabling climate/culture
• Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels
• Record findings in the log book
• Ensure IDP’s are linked to performance results and implemented as per Plan
• Daily, during shift inspection, visit all miners under his/her every mine section
• Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
• Ensure SHEQ compliance within the Team trough effective use of the Toolbox
• Conduct recruitment interviews
• Manage performance against set targets and competencies
• Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate,investigate and report SHEQ status
• Be deemed necessary by the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Conduct career discussions and implement actions with identified talent
• Intervals not exceeding 10 days

Qualification & Experience:

• At least 5 years’ experience in production mining, preferably 2 years supervisory experience.
• Grade 12 / N3
• Blasting Certificate / National Certificate in Rock breaking
• Shift Overseer Certificate (Mining)
• Minerals Act Regulation (2.15.1) appointment
