Job Description:

A vacancy exists for a Unit Manager based at Life Chatsmed Garden Hospital, reporting to Belinda August, Nursing Manager. The successful candidate will manage and co-ordinate evidence based clinical practice and resources efficiently by engaging and empowering staff within the unit to achieve the company’s strategic objectives of Growth, efficiency, Quality and Sustainability.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Effective people management – retaining employees though leadership and empowerment (Including internal and external stakeholder – relationships)
  • Manage Customer complaints and adverse events according to policy.
  • Retain employees through leadership and empowerment and manage staff turnover.
  • Effective relationship with internal and external that enhances and optimises business growth.
  • Effective recruitment and promotion of staff aligned to performance and diversity strategy.
  • Optimal and efficient human resourse utilisation as per agreed budgetary parameters
  • Manage Patient Experience, clinical Outcomes and Safety (Patient and employee) Outcomes.
  • Effective visible leadership to grow the business
  • Deliver of market leading evidence based clinical care.
  • Delivery of cost-effective, quality nursing care.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Current Registration with the south African Nursing Council
  • A diploma in Critical Care Nursing Science would be an advantage
  • Diploma in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science (Emergency Nursing Science) with at least 5 years post registration experience in an Emergency/Trauma Unit and proven leadership and /or people management experience within healthcare (including clinical competence in the area of specialisation)
  • Updated knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, industrial relations, standards, codes, ethics and competency standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a workplace environment that develops staff potential
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.
