Job Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of Infection Prevention and Control Protocols.
  • Knowledge and management of Patient Safety Incidents.
  • To attend monthly Morbidity and Mortality meetings and implement action plans.  Implement all MCWH Programmes which will contribute to a reduction in mortality and morbidity rates.
  • Implement child health care programmes
  • Health and Safety Act and all other applicable prescripts
  • To participate in Quality Improvement Programmes and Clinical Audits.
  • Implement standards, practices and indication for Child Health Care   Participate in child PIP meetings
  • Exercise control over discipline, grievance and Labour Relations issues according to the laid down policies and procedures.
  • Manage and supervise effective utilization of resources e.g. Human, Financial and material etc.
  • Provide a safe and therapeutic environment as laid down by the Nursing Act, Occupational
  • To develop and ensure implementation of Nursing Care Plans.
  • Assist with performance review i.e. EPMDS as well as student progress reports.   Maintain clinical competence by ensuring that scientific principles of nursing are implemented.
  • Participate in staff, student and patient and caregiver teaching.
  • Uphold the Batho Pele Principles and Patient’s Right Charter
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records according to legal requirements   Relieve the Operational Manager for short and long term absences, e.g. when off duty attending meetings or on leave.

Job Requirements:

  • Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure good nursing care
  • Ability to plan and organize own work and that of support personnel to ensure proper Nursing care.
  • Computer literacy
  • Perform a clinical practice in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards as determined by the relevant health facility.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices.
  • Possess and demonstrate effective communication skills for dealing with patients, supervisors and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Display a concern for patients, promoting and advocating proper treatment and care including awareness and willingness to respond to patient’s needs, requirement and expectations.

Qualification & Experience:

  • A post Basic Nursing qualification in Pediatric Care Nursing with a duration of at least I(one) year accredited with SANC Current registration with SANC as a General Nurse and Midwife
  • Degree/Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery PLUS
  • Grade 12 certificate
  • Proof of current and previous working experience endorsed by Human Resource department (certificate of service)
  • Current SANC receipt 2022
