Job Description:
To perform tasks/activities associated with the inspection and detection of water leaks and/or unaccounted for water losses.
Job Responsibilities:
- Executes fault finding procedures to detect leaks/water loss in the supply system.
- Attends to consumer complaints relating to water losses through negligence and provides general support to related operational activities.
- Serves notices to negligent customers ignoring water leaks and follows up to establish if corrective action has been executed and communicates the problem to the
- Superintendent for further attention if consumers continue to fail to rectify the problem.
- Provides support to the Meter Shop and Disconnections Sections with specific applications relating to the location and marking of meters and valves and records
- consumption readings for billing purposes.
- Investigates the extent of areas affected by water shutdowns, coding and reports the problem.
- Receives leak detection application forms and, communicating with immediate superior and clarifying specific priorities and/or general inspection requirements or complaints from consumers.
- Provides instructions and guidance to support personnel on the execution of general activities at specific sites/addresses e.g. cleaning of chambers.
- Attends to safety and related arrangements in respect of work to be undertaken on public roads.
- Seeks confirmation from consumers through the signing of the declaration/indemnity form excluding the Municipality from being subjected to any liability claims.
Qualification & Experience:
- 12 Months relevant experience.
- Computer Literacy.
- Matric/Grade 12.
- Valid motor vehicle drivers license (Code B).
- Matric/Grade 12 plus relevant certificate accredited by SAQA.
- 18 Months relevant experience.
