Job Responsibilities: Lead or assist with process hazard analysis (HIRA, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, etc) Involved in product development and process related projects, modifications and improvement. Ensure capital projects are completed on time and in budget. Provide innovative technical input to assist in maximizing efficiencies and reliability of the plant. Manage technical investigations and projects. Identification of process, procedural and system improvements to be implemented and the re-establishment of standards required for good operating practices Conceptualisation and front end engineering design of processes and equipment Project Management (Conceptualisation to Closure) - Turnkey and Internal Projects Execution of investigations pertaining to customer complaints and implementation of corrective measures thereof Evaluating and conducting feasibility studies for resource improvement projects Execution of detailed energy, water and material balances Job Requirements: In-house procedure development. Process safety concepts. Planning and Organising Technical safety risk assessments (PHA, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, QRA etc.). Good knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act Team work Analytical Thinking and Problem solving Initiative and Decision making Communication and Influence Incident Investigation including RCA facilitation. Qualification & Experience: Practical understanding of Chemicals and Operations Management. Minimum Grade 12 with Maths and Physical Science Degree –Chemical Engineering (B Eng. / BSc / B Tech) Technical Engineering background (optimization, design and maintenance of process equipment, project management, etc.). Minimum 3 years’ experience in the chemical manufacturing environment especially in a MHI facility Experience with Process Safety Management systems within the operations environment.
