Job Description: The CSIR has a vacancy for a Principal Software Developer within the e-Government Impact Area of the Next Generation Enterprises and Institutions Cluster. The incumbent will develop software and information systems, with a focus on Digital Government solutions that support and improve service delivery. This position is based in Pretoria. Job Responsibilities: Lead and integrate the team’s technical work on large and complex projects, using cutting-edge technology and innovative designs; Lead an agile team of software developers/engineers doing front-end, back-end and full stack development and delivering working software solutions; Coordinate across disciplines with researchers and experts to conceptualise and develop high-technology software solutions for clients; Conduct high-level design and integration of systems and lead the development that translates those design into working systems; and Contribute to the technology research of the group by producing and publishing research outputs, such as scientific conference papers and journal articles, in selected topics of interest. Job Requirements: Systems integration and interoperability; A Master’s degree in computer science, electronic/computer engineering, information technology or related field, with at least six years’ experience in professional software development and engineering, particularly on large, complex projects.
