Work From Home Johannesburg Data Capture – Geologist

Job Description:

The Geologist is accountable for developing and maintaining geological models for all potential economic ore bodies as a core component of the operational technical business planning environment to leverage optimal life of mine scenario planning.

Job Responsibilities:

• Logging of boreholes directly into the digital data capturing system
• Manage an underground section and ensure that all Geological processes and regulations are adhered to
• Actively participate in drilling program management to enable optimal exploration, development and extraction of the Ore Body
• Conduct underground digital mapping and processing of geological features, sedimentology and structures and translate this into geological models
• Participate in and lead assigned sectional and departmental safety, health and environmental campaigns
• Conduct monthly grade evaluations
• Participate in and contribute toward tactical operational planning and decision-making during production planning meetings by providing inputs, expertise and recommendations based on geological skills and knowledge

Job Requirements:

• Relevant structural geology and sedimentology knowledge
• Sound interpersonal, collaboration and good communication and writing skills
• Basic knowledge of 3D geological modelling and grade estimation
• Application of basic geostatistical techniques to mine geology data
• Proven diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work under pressure to achieve tight deadlines
• Sound appreciation of technology interfaces and capabilities/opportunities within the mineral resources’ environment

Qualification & Experience:

• Have at least one year postgraduate practical mining geology experience
• Must have proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or be fully vaccinated by the date of the commencement of employment
• Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a
• Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment.
• BSc Honours Geology or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution
