Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage financial indicators
• Align commercial framework with planning & forecasting for category/ranges/products
• Liaise with marketing, sales management, space planning & trade planning to effectively drive the growth of the category
• Co-create profitable & sustainable Category and Supplier strategies
• Develop and implement pricing strategies
• Drive E2E value chain initiatives to effectively manage product/range costs.
• Build and manage Supplier base to maintain unique & exclusive partnerships & agreements
• Drive effective integration of the matrix team
• Ability to actively review factors influencing trade ie; market share, local & international trends, economic climate, competitor activity & changes to customer shopping habits, and translate into strategy.
• Manage the end to end product development process milestones, timelines, category reviews and include key stakeholders at each point.

Job Requirements:

• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proactive & Innovative with a continuous improvement mindset
• Strong negotiation and financial management skills
• Proven leadership & people management skills, as well as the ability to coach and mentor junior team members.
• Team player with understanding of diversity
• Customer and retail orientation – business acumen; commercial awareness; good judgment; emotional resilience
• Proven ability to deliver the category financial indicators
• Commercial skills & experience within a retail, FMCG environment or bakery industry experience – knowledge of store operations, customer profiles, locations & competitors
• Minimum of 5 years buying experience in the perishable industry would be advantageous
• Proven sourcing and supplier management experience.
