Job Description:

To ensure all mechanical engineering projects, initiatives and processes are in conformance with Grain Field Chickens’ established policies and objectives. Plans and directs all aspects of mechanical engineering activities within the organization including, but not limited to managing and ensuring the scheduling, installation, repair and maintenance of all mechanical equipment and instrumentation.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure the availability of mechanical stock for machinery and critical components.
• Always adhere to the 20 Keys principle.
• Assist in the development and discipline of personnel.
• Develop needed infrastructure to ensure mechanical engineering competency.
• Overhead inspections on start–up, scheduled maintenance and breakdowns.
• Control and reduce usage of water, air, coal and overtime worked.
• Support mechanical engineers, designers and drafters on projects as per task needs and skills.
• Maintenance and scheduling of preventative maintenance on all machinery.
• Strict adherence to budget control and cost saving.
• Methodical root cause analysis and resolving non-compliance in parts performance.
• Must be a hands-on person.
• Review mechanical engineering staff performance periodically.
• Handle engineering tools and upgrades.
• Inform technical staff about division and engineering goals and business performance.

Qualification & Experience:

• Computer literate (Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word).
• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Qualified Fitter or Millwright.
• 7 years’ FMCG experience with repairs and various maintenance processes of which 2 must be at management level.
• Grade 12 / NQF 4 Equivalent.
