Job Responsibilities:
- Optimize the company’s ore resource
- Assist in min design and layout
- Design of layouts to establish stable infrastructure and mining excavations, minimise seismicity and undesirable fracturing. Optimizing of mining method and extraction sequences
- Design cost effective underground support systems
- Implementation of a FOG accident prevention strategy
- Conduct numerical modelling of work areas
- Training and coaching of staff
Job Requirements:
- Experience in shallow and deep level tabular mining rock engineering applications
- Advanced Certificate in Rock Engineering
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering / Science or related discipline or equivalent
- Completed GDE course
Qualification & Experience:
- Have a COMREC (Chamber of Mines Rock Engineering Certificate)
- Legal appointee according to regulations of Minerals Act and Regulations Mine Health and Safety Act
- Be capable of using modelling software to validate layouts and sequences
- Be able to communicate with the production people so as to convey rock engineering principles and mining strategies
- Be computer literate in Microsoft Office and numerical modelling software
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Centre
