Job Description:
To enable and support the delivery of the complete portfolio of IT initiatives with an enterprise PMO capability, allowing delivery leads throughout the discipline to deliver in a cohesive, coordinated, and effective manner. To create the highest level of visibility of the IT portfolio on an ongoing basis, enabling Shoprite to track, measure, and act on key portfolio performance and value metrics.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensures the complete portfolio is monitored for agreed metrics and issues recurring as well as exception reports to enable proactive management of overruns, changes, issues, or risks.
- Ensures that all initiatives in the portfolio have gone through value case definition and agreed expected value outcomes (monetary or intangible). Tracks all initiatives in the portfolio and initiates reassessment/review of programs or projects where targeted value is at risk and may benefit from re-planning or termination.
- Ensures that the IT portfolio can effectively plan and deliver on business demand, by providing critical delivery support through a central Portfolio Management Office.
- Monitors all initiatives after initial delivery/implementation to ensure actual delivered benefit is tracked against the stated value case. Ensures benefits realisation feeds back into governance to improve the accuracy of business cases.
- Manages tools & systems used for portfolio management and ensures that new demand is injected into the process to address tooling or technology issues.
- Manages and maintains the organisation’s approved set of methodologies and related artifacts for delivering different types of initiative.
- Supports program and project delivery by managing and coordinating all relevant administration (incl. templates, meetings, minutes, documentation and version control, resource assignment, etc.)
Job Requirements:

- Relevant business/retail knowledge
- Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Customer/Partner Relationships, Product & Technology
- IT Implementation (e.g. CMM and CMMI), IT Service Delivery and Support (e.g. ITIL Foundation), Project Management fundamentals (e.g.
- PMI or equivalent), and Industry-specific certifications
- Project management skills
Qualification & Experience:
- Expertise, Project Management, Delivery Management, Financials Management (P&L), and Strategic Insight.
- 10+ years of experience in a portfolio delivery environment with demonstrated complex project delivery success.
- Bachelors with honors in IT or related qualification.
