Netcare Vacancies – Senior Pharmacist

Job Description:

The incumbent will be responsible for the provision of medication and supplementary services to patients and members of the healthcare team. The Senior Pharmacist will also assume responsibility for meeting patients’ needs in a responsible, satisfactory and cost-effective manner.

Job Responsibilities:

• Act as custodian for the management of Schedule 5 & 6 drugs as per legal requirements
• Supervise and guide the Pharmacist Assistants and Interns
• Record prescriptions as per legislative requirementsConduct cyclical and full stock takes
• Involvement in the month-end process, and associated reporting required on HIS
• Assist with the financial dimension of the Pharmacy on certain financial aspects
• Management and assessment of staff performance i.e of junior Pharmacists and Pharmacist Assistants
• Involvement in maintaining CSA’s
• Induction and orientation of new Pharmacy staff
• Assisting with incident management of internal and external customers
• Update doctors and wards with regards to out of stock situations and offer alternatives
• Take over the responsibilities of the Pharmacy Manager in his/her absence
• Responsible for monthly rosters and hands-on

Job Requirements:

• Sound knowledge of Pharmacy business operations.
• Advanced computer literacy
• A relevant pharmaceutical qualification (B.Pharm Degree or Dip.Pharm).
• Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council
• Work experience in a Hospital or Retail Pharmacy environment
