Job Description:

The incumbent will also be responsible for monitoring and ensuring that nursing care and service delivery is implemented and practiced within a multi-disciplinary quality assurance team. In accordance the incumbent will be accountable for coordinating capacity building, mentoring and training

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all equipment is in working order and properly maintained
  • Ensure compliance with protocols, policies and Acts
  • Control of asset register
  • Investigate all negative incidents and ensure appropriate capturing on IMS
  • Ensure correct billing, stock management and purchasing
  • Monitor safety standards in accordance with the Machine and Occupational Safety Act (Act 6 of 1983). Report all accidents and incidents to Line
  • Manager / Safety Representatives
  • Facilitate timeous and accurate compilation of files
  • Identify quality improvement opportunities and ensure appropriate strategy and Quality Improvement initiatives are developed and measured
  • Manage acuities and skill mix in such a way as to ensure cost effective quality care
  • Manage all costs emanating from the department

Job Requirements:

  • The ability to develop using collaborative relationships to help accomplish work goals;
  • The ability to maintain stable performance under pressure by handling stress in an acceptable way to personnel and the organisation;
  • The ability to actively participate as a member of a team to achieve goals;
  • The ability to produce work of a high quality standard by accurately checking processes and tasks;
  • The ability to work well under pressure ant to maintain effectiveness during changing conditions;
  • The ability to identify and understand issues, problems and opportunities in order to take appropriate action and / or to resolve problems;
  • Must be prepared to be flexible in working hours / shift work.

Qualification & Experience:

  • A relevant management qualification preferred
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
  • A relevant qualification in Critical Care Nursing essential
  • 2 or more years experience in a private hospital setting
  • A relevant nursing qualification (Diploma in General Nursing/ B Cur Degree) or equivalent NQF 7 qualification
  • Compliance with the SANC code for a Registered Nurse and all applicable health care legislations
  • Experience in clinical leadership
  • An intermediate level of Computer proficiency
