Job Description:
The key purpose of the Safety, Health and Environmental Manager role will be to contribute and support the development and maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment, by implementing and monitoring OHS and Waste activities to continuously improve OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) and Waste Management.
Job Responsibilities:
- Communicate, engage with and influence line management and workers to mitigate risk and optimize effective waste management as well as optimising health and safety of workers and others at the workplace.
- Supporting the implementation and monitoring of OHS and Waste Management Systems, policies and procedures, whilst supporting and motivating line management and supervisors to provide Safety, Health and Environmental Leadership.
- Co-ordinate and lead processes for monitoring, measuring and evaluation of SHEQ performance
- Facilitate, monitor and support management practices and projects aimed at achieving an organizational culture focused on OHS & Waste.
- Recognize and support the increase in the maturity of the organization’s culture and its effect on how to function effectively as an OHS
- Practitioner/Professional.
- Coordinate and support the development and maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring identification of key risks, implementation and maintenance of critical risk controls and leading the SHEQ Risk Management team.
- Apply legal, professional and ethical standards to practise to promote compliance with applicable laws and regulations relating to SHEQ
Job Requirements:
- Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
- Project Management
- Excellent understanding of relevant legislation applicable to OHS
- Knowledge of global sustainability initiatives and best practices
- Comprehensive Understanding of Risk Management Processes
- Risk Management
- Knowledge of OHS Act, COID Act, Environmental Legislation
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Qualification & Experience:
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others
- Managerial experience will be advantageous
- Degree or Diploma in Safety or Environmental Health or Environmental Management or Occupational Health Nursing or industry equivalent
- with a – (NQF 6/7 qualification.)
- Project Management experience will be advantageous
- Experience in Health Care industry is preferred
- Registration with SAIOSH and/or other applicable professional body.
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in field of study
