Job Description:
The Pharmacist will be responsible for the provision of medication and supplementary services to patients and members of the healthcare team. The incumbent will also assume responsibility for meeting patients’ needs in a responsible, satisfactory and cost-effective manner. Capable of supporting and advocating change initiatives and managing own reaction to change.
Job Responsibilities:
- Be able to work independently and as a productive member of a team depending on the situation
- Training and support of nursing and pharmacy personnel on AMS in line with group expectation.
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders (internal/external) regarding out of stock situations and providing suitable alternatives.
- Antibiotic Stewardship Committee initiate and conduct meetings (include all stakeholders)
- Patient ward rounds (clinical and experience focused)
- Cover shifts as per Pharmacy operating hours including weekends, public holidays and on-call roster
- Stock control – maintain stock areas and adequate stock rotation. Conduct monthly cycle counts and quarterly stock takes
- Act as custodian for the management of Schedule 5 & 6 drugs as per legal requirements
Qualification & Experience:
- Experience as a Clinical Pharmacist (advantageous)
- A relevant pharmaceutical qualification (B.Pharm. Degree or Dip.Pharm) or equivalent NQF 7 qualification.
- M.SC/M.Pharm in Clinical Pharmacy (advantageous)
- Computer System experience – SAP and Unisolv (advantageous)
- 2+ years experience (advantageous)
- Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council
- Sound knowledge of Pharmacy business operations
- Private Hospital experience required
