Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and ensure clinical accompaniment of students.
  • Participate in all governance structures of the College.
  • Exercise control over students
  • Implements the new nursing programmes in line with SANC and CHE regulations.
  • Coordinate the implementation of R.635 programme (Mental Health Nursing); including teaching and learning and assessment of R171 and R1497 programmes.
  • Provide education and training to student nurses.
  • Coordinate clinical learning exposure to students between college and clinical areas.
  • Collaborate with other internal and external stakeholders and build a sound relationship within the Department.
  • Development and review of nursing curricula for all categories of training.

Job Requirements:

  • Proficiency in teaching and assessment in Nursing Education including evaluation approaches.
  • Possess good communication (written & verbal) and presentation skills.
  • Possess knowledge of relevant Legislation, Acts, Prescripts and Policy frameworks informing the area of operation. Knowledge of nursing education programmes and curriculum.
  • Knowledge of policy development, interpretation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Sound conflict management and decision making / problem solving skills
  • Have in-depth knowledge of procedures and processes related to Mental Health nursing.
  • Willingness to travel. Good research and analytical skills. Good managerial and interpersonal skills.  Computer literacy.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Proof of Current Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) 2025 PLUS
  • Post basic qualification in Mental Health Nursing (R212) PLUS
  • A post registration qualification in Nursing Education registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) PLUS
  • A Diploma /Degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse PLUS
  • A minimum of four (4) years appropriate/recognizable experience after registration as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council in General Nursing, Midwife/Accouchers, community and Psychiatric nurse (in the case of grade 1 PND 1)
  • Unendorsed valid Code EB driver’s license (code 08)
