Job Description:
To assist with and ensure that the quantitative aspects of the Financial Services Conduct Authority (FSCA) Solvency Assessment and Management (SAM) are successfully implemented and maintained within Standard Insurance Limited (SIL).
Job Responsibilities:
- Allocate capital and monitor the ROE for SIL
- Reviewing and monitoring the investment policies.
- Provides analytical and data support for the reinsurance brokers around the reinsurance requirements for new products.
- Quantifies risk and analyses the capital implications.
- Reviewing and monitoring the dividend policy
- Help ensure SIL has an effective reinsurance structure in place at all times through stochastic modelling and other actuarial claims modelling techniques.
- Optimise the investment strategy for SIL.
- Quantifying the dividend to be declared by SIL.
- Assist with adherence to the project plan on the quantitative elements, reserving for statutory purposes, capital requirement calculation, etc. (Pillar I).
Qualification & Experience:
- At least 9 exemptions / actuarial exam passes
- Capital modelling and reserving experience is preferred
- BSc or BCom with actuarial majors, Honours is an advantage
- Member of Actuarial Society of South Africa /Member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
- 2-4 years’ actuarial experience within Short Term Insurance
