Job Responsibilities:
- Provide high level, specialist legal advice and opinions to line departments in respect of legal issues arising from the interpretation, implementation, and management of commercial and other contracts
- Provide guidance and input on changes to City supply chain
- Policies and ancillary procurement related polices and special projects
- Draft and develop templates for supply chain management contracts.
- Manage the resolution of legal disputes arising from contracts at court and other forums and ensure adequate protection of the City’s interests
- Consult, research, draft, vet and amend contracts, specifically, procurement contracts, according to relevant specification, legislation, policy and delegated authority utilising approved precedents
- Attend to correspondence and enquiries regarding services and ongoing legal projects
Job Requirements:
- An LLB degree and admission as an Attorney or Advocate (Passed Bar Examination)
- A minimum of five (5) years’ post-admission relevant experience
- A valid Code driver’s licence
- Experience in a relevant legal environment
- Proven experience in commercial contract drafting and vetting, as well as advisory functions related to commercial contracts
- Computer literacy
- Sound knowledge of local government, legislation, policies and procedures
