Job Description:
We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Centurion, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.
Job Responsibilities:
- Define and manage SHE audits and ensure alignment with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and conformance to Kolomela Mine requirements
- To manage the mine’s SHEQ system to comply to International SHEQ standards and legal requirements
- The development, implementation and maintenance of an effective SHEQ System for the mine and the management thereof
- Analyse SHE statistics and trends and make recommendations to improve the SHE performance of the mine
- Analyse leading indicator trends and mitigation actions identified for non-conformances in the SHE systems functioning
- Maintain and improve sound relations with the customers (internal & external) to achieve the agreed common objectives with regards to all SHEQ policies
- Managing support oversite with issues and call logs between the Isometrix System Support team and Kumba, and setting clear targets on acceptable levels
- Ensure that all statistical data required by DMR (Dept of Mineral and Energy) is submitted according to legislation
- Monitoring the effective integration of the following systems with the Management System: SAP Ariba − Health Source − SAP (Navigator + and GSS) − Isometrix − ITIME
Job Requirements:
- Report writing experience skills
- Experience in any of the SHE Fields and or including mining, engineering and/or processing
- 2 years of experience in a management systems environment
- 3 -4 years operational experience in Safety Management preferably at a supervisory level
- Computer Literacy: MS Office: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996) and other related legislation
- Isometrix Systems knowledge
Qualification & Experience:
- Relevant B. degree in Safety Management /Risk Management or relevant equivalent qualification
- You will be required to pass a medical fitness certificate to be considered for this position
Valid driver’s license - Certificate of training in OHSAS 18001/45001 System Auditing and or integrated internal auditing will be advantageous
