Job Description:
The Senior Accountant Operations will develop a deep understanding of the KPIs and cost drivers that impact our business performance.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide & discuss discipline-specific financial reports
- Support preparation of financial forecasts, taking into account past performance and forward looking risks and opportunities
- Work side-by-side with discipline Managers & Superintendents to develop budgets, e.g., by providing insights into financial data and consolidating inputs
- Ensure that processes are established and standardized to allow for trend analysis, correct pigeon holing, feasibility studies, and cost control
- Perform quality check on variance analysis
- Support tracking of discipline financial performance against plan
- Collaborate with discipline to develop risk register, proactively providing financial evaluation (cost/capital) of risk mitigation strategies
- Training, mentoring and support of all staff
- Collaborate with discipline management to identify cost improvement opportunities
- Ensure application / adherence / communication of standard costing rules
Qualification & Experience:
- At least 5 years’ experience in a financial or analytical role preferably within the mining industry
- Excel will be needed for the role
- SAP (ERP) experience
- Relevant degree in finance or related
- CFA, CA(SA) or ACMA will be advantageous
- BPC (Business Planning and Consolidation)
- Managing a team/leadership experience
