Description
Join our team of innovative software developers dedicated to evolving our deployment tools and services enabling us to manage software deployments on behalf of Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) service teams.
You will contribute to building the next generation deployment orchestration and management infrastructure platform to enhance the speed and safety of continuous deployments in an environment which is expanding at a rapid pace.
You will program in various languages that primarily include Java, Kotlin, GoLang, Ruby, as well as a variety of internal Amazon tools.
As an experienced engineer in the team, you will be a technology leader responsible for mentoring engineers in the team, guiding our service’s technology strategy, designing and developing high quality software designs and implementing solutions autonomously to address the ambiguous challenges we encounter. We use an agile approach to deliver value to our customers.

Work/Life Harmony
Most of our team is based in Cape Town. Under normal circumstances, we mostly work from the office, but you will have the flexibility to manage your own time. Occasionally we work with our colleagues across the world meaning we accommodate different timezones. This position involves on-call responsibilities. We continuously prioritise efforts to automate ourselves out of operational responsibilities to ensure the impact is minimal.

Basic Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent working experience
- 5+ years of industry experience in a software development environment
- Sound grasp of Computer Science fundamentals, including data structures, object-oriented design, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Java, C#, Python, Javascript, Scala, Kotlin, C++, GoLang
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to deliver quality, innovative solutions
- Analytical skills with excellent problem solving abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Working knowledge of AWS products and technologies
- Working knowledge of relational and non-relational databases
