Job Description:

We will expect you to take ownership of the full end-to-end model development lifecycle (development, stakeholder interaction, implementation and governance) to meet relevant business as usual and project timelines.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Communicate results and recommendations from analysis and modelling undertaken to stakeholders by tailoring the interpretation to the audience and using appropriate presentation technology and templates
  • Ensure model compliance with Group governance standards by following and adhering to standards
  • Manage key stakeholders across the business by ensuring their objectives and priorities are reflected in the agreed solutions.
  • Enhance model usage through strategic recommendations to the Credit Risk team.
  • Feed into and uphold the high-performing team culture.
  • Ensure that Absa values are instilled through demonstrating leadership by example.
  • Participate in planning, resource allocation, training and team-building functions
  • Interact with the Validation Team during review of the models.
  • Play an active role in providing directional expertise and enhance model building skills across the team, including transferring knowledge and experience to junior team members.
  • Explaining methodologies and data feeds to Validation, Internal Audit and External Audit
  • Develop and maintain relationships with relevant business units by understanding the business units’ requirements and obtaining feedback. In addition explaining the models to relevant business units.

  • IFRS9 model development experience (lifetime PD, LGD, EAD, Significant Increase in Credit Risk (SICR) and economic forward looking modelling).
  • SAS coding
  • Data analytics

Qualification & Experience:

  • Preference will be given to South African Citizens and Permanent residents of South Africa in possession of proof of permanent resident status
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in statistical model development or validation in IFRS9 model development environment
  • Post Graduate degree in Statistics/Mathematics/Engineering or similar.
